Getting ready for Timonium.

Ive been out in the shop the last while & trying to take care of what I would like to have at Timonium.
Id like to have the BSA there in some form.
Id like to have a few artsy things Ive done there.
Id like to have a couple bike there in metal.
And I would like to have my bicycle/motorcycle there thats been back burnered forever.
There will be art there, and some prints.
There will be chairs to sit and rest and gab.
There will be Lowside, Monster Craftsmen, Dime city or Cafe Racer tv/mag , Cut rate Clothing, Death Science, Debbie Fitch & Q-ball photographers, and alot more, in our area in the upper building. A show inside a show. Come by and gab, look at everybodies bikes. Real Bikes. Choppers, Cafes, Street Bikes.

There will also be a fundraiser for this little guy.

Debbie will have donated stuff for sale, please see her at the Lowside counter/area. Shes the one with a Mowhawk, and a big smile, not hard to find.

Ill try to get some pictures up later. Im slacking on Pictures & Blogging. Been staying busy trying to get to much done. Im good at that. Over committing, Ill learn ....maybe.

THE Yellow Cyclone stolen at gunpoint...

This is horrible. Theres only one of this big, it was different from the other Cyclones in many ways. It and the Honda racer taken from his home were worth over a million dollars. Its sad, because through him sharing it with the world, online, mags, shows etc., it has been pictured in his living room many times making it not to hard to find. I hope this doesnt keep others from sharing publicly what they have. Sad state of affairs.

Keep your eyes & ears open. Sadly it probably went strait to the docks. Who knows. Somebody does.

BSA 441 Board tracker the oil tank

I made up a tear dropped oil tank, instead of rubber bushings I thought Id try something a bit older feeling. The springs will be not red when done. I scored a nice old back support belt, worn in perfectly, it will be the battery hold down and keep it out of site a bit.

Ive trying to decide how to do the rear seat. I had made the basic rack/seat a while back, but trying to mount it with out leaving much sign of it when removed was getting me, then I decided the rear foot pegs should be part of it as well, so the whole rear passenger area is one.

There is one main pin to pul in the front under the main seat. then lift strait up and off. The pegs will be wrapped in leather same as the frt pegs and grips.

I got the front mount for the rear rack made, Itl will have a removable pin in the front for releasing it from the bike. The side supports Im working on, they include the passenger foot pegs as well, all in one unit, so when the racks removed, the rear pegs are gone with it.

I started to play with the exhaust, we are tring to retain some original BSAness on the bike, & I think the BSA muffler & heat shield goes well with the bike. Need to massage a couple things, and change to tail on the muffler, but itll be perfect i think.

Also made the seat stops that sit under the spring cups.. Now Im back up front on the bars, again. The one set I liked mounted to the side of the front end, but there was not enough strength one the sheetmetal fork sides to support them, then I made some that went over the top of front end & down and out, like clubman style, that look horrible, but now I have a solution, itll be neat.

We last year at the show, they opened a second huge building up top, for swap meet, & more homegrown stuff. Lowside Magazine & friends had the back wall. It was so great, that this year Lowside has been given the back 1/2 of that building that was curtained off last year. This is a hugenormous flippin space.

There will be cafe bikes, choppers, bobbers, metric bikes, art, sculpture, photography, Q-Ball, Debbie Fitch, Dime city & cafe racer TV, comphy chairs to take a load off & relax & BS with people.....the Lowside of the Timonium bike show will be the magical spot this year I do believe.

Last Year I had entered the Green Ural (Pictured in the header above) as a joke, and by some freak of nature won First Place in Metric Full Custom. People want simpler it seems, and the Baltimore guy always get First in the more traditional fields with well built simple clean HD builds. This year Im going to enter something so out there, just to see what people think. Ill be a Love/Hate type deal Im sure. And totally just for fun, what this should be about .

THE LOWSIDE at the Timonium Bike Show

Given our strong grassroots following and the current rise in DIY culture and appreciation for vintage aesthetic, Lowside was asked to take the reigns of this enormous and previously well attended event ensuring the four pillars of vintage motorcycling are represented, Choppers/Bobbers, Cafe Racers, Drag Bikes and Vintage Antiques creating the draw needed to break the 50,000 attendee mark.

The 35,000 square foot facility will play host to the first ever of it's kind 3 day long indoor event showcasing everything from vintage choppers to Vincents and everything in between. Paying homage to the history and raw value found in motorcycling, Lowside is bringing together the entire array of motorcycle enthusiasts which creates the ultimate captive audience for you to market your brand and products over this three day period.

I collect a lot of old bits and pieces from antique stores, and have a lot of left over stuff from projects. Ive been trying to get back in the groove since mid December and my creativity has just been bleak. I spent a couple days looking thru my stuff & made some lamps. It felt good , made me think a bit, and got me back in the state mind I needed.

Previously I had used a couple bushings and spacers on the neck & bearing cups, it worked well, but its been eating me. I removed the upper & lower neck/bearing cup parts from the Honda Dream that the front end is from & added them to the BSA neck this gave it the correct neck length from top to bottom , & allowed me to just use the stock Honda Races, Balls, and cups. Much better I think. I also installed the steering stop.

Now onto handler bar set 3.0.

Well Im back from the Holiday break and some other things that needed done.
First on the list was to make the front wheel work with the Fork. Originally I was going to use the Honda Dream front hub & lace the 21" rim to it. That way it would bold right on the the Dream Front end. I decided last minute I wasnt liking the less stopping power factor, or the none matching hub sizes, so I gave Matt the BSA front hub to lace to the rim, and threw caution to the wind.

Well today was figure out how to make that work day. I reduced the axle size on one end, then the wheel hub didnt want to clear the Dreams sheet metal fork leg on one side, so I trimmed it a bit, then took apart the shock to flip the lower section to clear a nut , and finally got room for things to work, a little cleaning up on the cuts, and itll be good.

Then I was looking for the BSA axle nut, I looked through every place it should have been, and then all the other places. Then I went to get the nut off another 441 here, and WHAT?! I slapped myself in the forehead. The lower fork leg on the BSA is threaded & there is no nut. I kill me sometimes. Of course its a reverse British thread on the axle, so theres no finding one of those around anytime soon, so I cut off the lower tip of the bsa tube. Its a big chunk of metal, so at least I can shape it into something cool looking.

Not much to see, but its all I got picture wise for tonite.

Ow, they nice with tires..

Heres a horrible picture. Its blurry since I was falling over when I took it, this means its time to retire for the night normally.

Kinda like when John Wayne was drunk riding his horse & fell off, and says "We camp here".

You can kind of make out the rack, it will be level with the seat and it looks pretty slick. And the seat I just made about 2" longer in the front. Much better.

OK, there is to be a removable seat arrangement of some sort on the rear of the bike for an occasional passenger. It will be in the form of a rack that will remove, with a P Pad on it.

For this bike Im trying to be a tad on the subtle, but unusual side in the little things. This part I think the fellow will get a kick out. A coupe years ago in Greenland and Pennsylvania a Movie called the Last Airbender Based on the Avatar was filmed. The bad guy soldiers had grey boots, the higher ups wore black leather boots with embossing on the sides. Weeeell, one day lurking in a strange antique (kind of) store, in the back I saw racks of outfits that looked like old asian warrior kinda deals. The sign said they where the soilder outfits used in the filming of the movie, and then they had some of the boots. The leather was thick. I saw the embossing and knew I could do something with these. This particular pair was wore by stunt guy, H. Minami apparently. What does this all mean, not Jack really, just entertains me.

So I wacked up the one boot to use some of it for the rear P Pad on the rack, on the BSA. So, this bit of boot has seen Greenland, PA, MD. and soon the Florida Keys.

Theres a lot goes into some simple little details on these bikes, these are the parts I have the most fun with.

So far on this bike, stuff I gathered and reused or wacked and tweeked parts from to use are.

BSA 441 Board tracker Foot Pegs and Controls

This took a while. The right side wasn't to bad. I made the basic peg that you see welded on bike already, then made a rotating sleeve for the brake pedal that I made from one of my finds.

It slips the sleeve on the peg.

See here how the pedal lines up with the body line on the primary cover, & the lil lever tab on top lines up with the frame tube. Niiice.

The other side I knew would take a while, that assumption way correctamundo. The kicker messed with everything, it is where the sifter wants to be. I now need to make the pag folding out past the shifter pivot, so it can fold up to use the kicker.

I needed a break from that, so I made a tail lamp and a mount.

What in the heck is this lil gem???

Ive been derelict in my picture taking & blogging.
Heres the Back of the BSA. The stock rear wheel is in place for setting up chain alignment, the new wheel tire setup is a good bit larger.

It was asked that the bike have a removable seat for an occasional passenger. I thought a Bicycle rack looking dealio would best suit this bike. It will have a bit of padding & leather. It will also be neat to have for longer rides to strap stuff to. It will be made to put on and take off in a snap.

There will be more on this bike daily for the next bit. Presently doing the tank & oil tank.

Ok, I started with a Brooks saddle for this bike, then I stepped up in size on the saddle to another Brooks, I love how they look and are made. I still felt kind of guilty, knowing the seat was just my taste in looks, but would really be not practical for the fellow in reality. So I decided to just make an older style Bike seat myself for the 441.

Added some tabs

Made this brass thing, from asnother brass thing, reshaped it a bit...

Filed, wire wheel, later hammered it..

Ah Hah, now we have something. Ends. we have two ends.

And a middle..and spring seats for the rear...

And a pivot ball for the brass front to pivot on.....I do have a plan here, I think. Another 30 parts to it and itll make more sense.

You may remember, a few weeks ago, black cat left us. His brother, red cat is still with us, now an orphan. He still plays with the dogs, but seems to have taken to me & the kids a good bit more lately. Tonite as I worked on a stool filing, he hopped on my shoulders, he does this a lot. Tonite however, he stayed there as I rolled steel bar, hammered stuff, walked around, he was along for the ride. If I hold my arms out strait, he will even walk out on them and go back and forth. Ok, last we made the carriage step into a claw looking thing. I added some tips to the 3 ends & added a mount at the top, hammered and filed a bit and wah la. I went with the old Harley Hummer head light, and added modern lighting.

Now what will this thing be?

I love the roller, feel like Im steering a ship. Im rethinking the seat for the third time. The Brooks saddle is very cool, but I think the rider may actually ride this bike and would be happier with something a bit larger and more comphy. Im going to try something, this will be the first part of the something....

Also, if ever bored, here are the pics on my old site from the build, taken here, at my home. Obviously you can see I did do a wee bit off work to this bike.......

The original deal, was me build the basic bike. He had two people in Texas that he said he had, one to do any little fab work needed and supply a seat, and one that would go through the mechanics of the bike, the carb, brakes, the general all around as he specialized in xs650's.

Later fellow number one was fine to tweek around stuff, til about 1.5 days of dealing with Trent & he wanted him out..... Jeff ruins Trents life again..
Fellow number two, did a wonderful job on the carbs, went thru brakes and such, plumbed the ax gas tank & pump that I supplied nicely (of course to read it now on trents sites, its a stroke of genius that he concocked...whatever), and then the fellow charged trent about a third his normal Rate and trent exploded since hed bloooogged about him or some shit. The bike remained at that shop for 6 months or so until Trents girlfriend could pay to get it out as it was about to have a lien on it. So then it all changed to I built him a bike that needed all this shit fixed, the brakes werent safe, the starter died, etc etc.....Jeff ruining his life yet again.

For our first installment ..... A brief recap.
Last year I built Trent a bike, an xs650. He offered $4000 dollars to build a wacked out xs650 chop bob kinda cool bike. Id wanted to build a japper, but they dont really bring money on resale so never had the chance. Trent was all about garage builders, cheap jap bikes, enabling folks to build neat bike, afforable, and wanted to push the Metric side of things. All good, I was kinda into it, and the $4000 would cover donor bike, and parts, maybe some paint and stripping etc. Id do the labor free of charge for whatever that ending up being, $4000 would get it done. He and Bandit, Keith Ball, would take care of shipping it down the Texas, for the ROT Rally have a delivery Bash, models, bears, photographer the whole deal. Cool.

I found a good, well stored XS locally for $850, Trent sent some doe, I got the bike. Reviewed parts that needed bought, or made. Emphasized the first thing needed was a tail, and the duel 21" rims an tires, a must at the beginning of a build like this. Well, a long time passed, no more money from old Trent, just excuses that he couldnt sell his VTX he'd crashed, and lost a contract he had doing web stuff or something for a hospital, so he was broke.......This drug out. (Although in trents posting now, its refered to as, The Builder (me) sitting on the bike for months) MmmHmmm . Got to the point, if this thing has a shot in hell at ever getting done, it was crunch time,a couple months away is needed abandoned, or some parts actually needed to appear.

I asked a friend who builds awesome Tails and Oil Cans if hed kick in towards Trents Bike, Trent would pimp him on the web, etc. He said yes. Then I called another, he said yes, this was starting to look like I could now get a tail and at least go forward, the bike had been sitting torn down a while at this point, needing a tail and wheels & tires..

I told Trent the my 2 guys would kick in, and Trent lite up realizing, cool, free parts, Ill pimp them, alls well, he sent out emails asking for others to kick in towards his bike and got a few more people to kick in. So now it was the community bike build. So I got to it after the tail showed up here, That next day I started, with 5 or 6 weeks to go........

V-twin Cafe. some new stuff.

I played with making an air cleaner, not up to par yet, needs tweeking, but I like it. On the bars I was going to wrap with brown leather to match seat, but I tried some gel line bike wrap. I like to look an feel, hate to weird print, need to get some strait brown on final assembly. Need to make something for the speedo, its a small electronic jobbie that is fairly small.

We wanted to do a leather belt deal for a tank hold down. Ive found old horse harnesses are good finds for this type thing, they have the real solid brass buckles, and the strap is narrow. I made the little do dad on the top end, re riveted it with cooper, and I totally like it. I want to have it so the fuel lines can be disconnected , and the one piece tank/seat will be able to be removed with no tools .

The Handlebars for the board tracker have taken a few attempts, each time I wasnt happy. It wanted to have dropped bars, but I dont want it to be uncomfortable since its goal in life is to be ridden around the Keys. Its nice the front end comes up so high by the neck, I finally settled on the bars would go up and and back down to look right, but really not be super low. Then I gave them a little love to make them fit in with what the bike will be.

Its a monumental moment for me. The wheel deal took a bit more then when I initially thought, "oh this would be cool to do." Thank you John at Draft again for taking care of this. Now I just need to drill and tap 18 holes in each side of each wheel. I will be good at drilling and tapping when theyre done. When the front & rear rotors are added the wheels will look exactly like Id imagined, stylish and aggressive with a vintage look..
I settled on a headlight, and will make up brackets and the rear shock mounts the rest of the way next.
Some of the details youll see soon on this bike will throw it in the vintage direction nicely.

RIP Black Cat

RIP Black Cat, or Calvin as the kids like to call him. He was a great companion.

He kept me company in the shop, walking thru the rafters, making stuff fall on me. He like to hop in people cars in the driveway and leave with them and then scare the crap out of them. His favorite game was to sit smack on the yellow line in the middle of the road however, which today was a bit more dramatic then just the normal skidding car sounds he so adored.

You will be missed at night, walking on the keyboard as I type, knocking large objects off the highest shelves, and nuzzling up with my face to sleep. You can never be replaced.

My friend John At Draft , got the wheels disc done to convert the Ninja wheels into a more retro, Salt Flat looking type wheel. It was more of a process then anticipated, which all things good usually are, but it is so worth the results that they will make possible. Thank you John for taking care of my weird needs.

46" 9ply Maple Pintail in Flat White

With 180mm reverse kinpin trucks with soft bushings, 83mm 78a Vented speed wheels, Abec 7 bearings, & brass mounting hardware. Available in Black and white, or Triple white. This is an excellent riding Strong board with a very mild concave. It is the perfect board to hang and display, as well as ride. This is not a bouncy 7ply , it is 9ply which is needed at this length for a real world performer.

5 maple, and 2 outer in thick Bamboo, Hand burned Logo

With 180mm reverse kinpin trucks with soft bushings, 74mm 78a wheels, Abec 7 bearings, & brass mounting hardware. Available with Black trucks & deep purple wheels, or White trucks & Pink wheels. This is an excellent riding board that sits very low to the ground & is a smaller lighter package making it excellent for pushing flatland and reducing leg fatigue, or going fast and carving.

This a great stable board for high speeds, but is also a really nice board for pushing since it is so low to the ground. The shape & concave cradle you for a very locked in feeling.

This is a serious little package. Its big fun due to its size, but it is set up very well & is a carving machine. Zspeed trucks in white, front truck with Double soft Bones bushings, rear truck with upper bones soft & lower standard medium bushings. 60mm Red transparent wheels, Abec 7 Bearing & stainless hardware.

This is a great little campas or city board, ride it, then throw it in your backpack or locker out of sight.

I have been swamped lately.

I have a few long term projects that have drug out,
I have over committed myself with a few short term projects to help friends, or old customers.
My home has decided it needs anything to do with water the last two weeks, todays event being the Pressure tank, which was proceeded by leaky bathroom under the floor, burst water heater, bad shut off switch to pump, the list goes on.
My son has had shows 4 weeks in a row.
We have been blessed with a lot of rain in the last month, which also caused water problems in the house.
I have spent a good bit of time in the last bit on setting up new store & gallery & getting a few new products ready physically here.
I have been to the ER, and then some docs after that...its not simple.
The list goes on, but hopefully I can just say, to much stuffed into a few weeks.

I have been blessed to have various people look to me to help take care of their needs.

I have been at a point the last 2 weeks that I receive a good number of facebook messages, emails, voice mails, calls, etc from people. I apologize to anybody I havent responded to as fast as needed.

If I post on the blog about something I did that day, like I used to like to do, it now makes me & may some others happy, but is upsetting to others that its not their project. I dont mean to say this in a bad way, just putting it out there.

Im behind, I know Im behind, it is my fault and nobody elses. I very much appreciate that some have extended deadlines with me in the interest of the job, and relieving a bit of pressure from me. I have cancelled any outside of home event I had planned in hopes of having my time better used.

Im back in the shop, tomorrow I will hopefully install a new pressure tank early & have it done. No shows this week or the next, hopefully no more water devices committing suicide , flooding, massive stink bug infestations , etc. I should be back in the shop tomorrow evening and and each day after with nothing in the way of progress on bikes..

Well, this may have some people scratching their heads, hopefully followed by a big smile.

I have decided to change direction with the store end of things. Originally I was going to sell select Motorcycle parts, but I decided to follow what is me a bit more & that a bit less. I think between Lowbrow customs, & Dime City Cycles as well as others, that market is well covered by stores with excellent service & selection.

I used to have a Longboard Company called Boziboards, I miss the skate business & crowd. I am reissuing the Mad Bomber 2.0, the most popular deck I made, and am adding a Dropped deck & a beautiful Pintail as well.

And I have recently come to love fixed gear Bicycles, bikes in the simplest form and am building some in my own way with as bit of me in them, simple, a tad vintage maybe, and I believe unique.

There will be a bit of apparel & art, that relates to the above, being on the go, transport, and just getting out.

The store is in place so you can begin to feel it out. More products & images will appear over the next 2 weeks.

Bethany. Shes a special one, she can make you smile with a look, or shoot a hole through you with her lazer eyes. Sometime both at once. Shes a hard worker, truck driving, bundle of.....something. I love her to death.

Shane, he's 15 and will take over the world in short time. He plays in a few bands, books bands in Baltimore at clubs, does sound at some events, has a adorable girlfriend, tells lots of people what to do & what he thinks from the time he gets up to the time he goes to bed. He remembers to say please & thank you sometimes even.

Kyle, my oldest. He has been keeping me company more lately & keeps my spirits up. He is an excellent artist finding his way, going to school, working & just enjoys being Kyle. He just rode his Motorcycle to NY, then Niagra falls. He's got like 15,000 miles on it with no real incidents, very proud.

Alex, the girl in pink is our rental Daughter. She is a trip & is hilarious. Her Hubby is overseas, so we get to see a lot this summer. She does stuff like makes "Dave's" name into "Da" in the nurses rounds board behind her. The four of them together can give me a headache from laughing so much.

Well, I went back to square one on the upper frame, needed to have a little more personality and more Grrrrr factor. Now Im happy with it so far.

The tank is getting the stretch & will tuck up tighter to frame.

Here I had started to place things together to figure out the direction I wanted to go and size it up.

Being a Board Track styled bike, the frame should be a bit towards bicycle. I love the Front end, & got the neck bearings figured out, & the axle. I wanted the bike to kinda of have a hint of airflow to it & more sheet metally feel. So I amgoing to make the front & rear tunes slip stream in shape, round in front, flowing the a point on the backside.

I made & welded in the tail lamp housing, now I can finish the rear of the tail. The tail, tank & support bar around it has been welded solid. Its a very nice rigid one piece body.

I also scrounged the wrecking yard for a heat shield that would fit the upper pipes nice, bingo, got one.

After the initial cutting of the factory frame, there was one more crime to commit. The tank that was on the bike when it came was a really neat tank that was not the original 441 tank, it had neat body lines in the side that I Love. The owner asked that is still reflect its BSA heritage, so the tank is to be narrowed & stretched & will retain the the character it has.

I felt a little bad, but well worth the result. Now it needs cut across & stretched to be longer in Board tracker fashion.

When I suggested using the newer style wheels & suspension to the owner of the bike, part of the deal was making them go with the rest of bikes look, which the ninja wheels in stock form dont. I wanted to cut wheel disc reminiscent of the old Car Salt flat wheels. This is one of those things, after I say it I really hope it works & is possible.
John at Draft Cycleworks made it possible. I got a 48"x 48" piece of 1/8" 6160 aluminum, & cut it into 4 pieces & went to Johns. The first disc took quite a while to figure & do, me watching mostly, John doing .
They will have a bit more going on before they are done, but heres the idea. And Im in the woods a bit with caliper clearance, but Ill get it worked out.

New fork tubes, tires, front wheel, etc. This will be a super fun & versatile bike. There's been a few more hurdles on this bike then expected, but its turning into my favorite bike I think. The wheels will look a bit different when done :-)
Excuse the mess, I was a bit to tired to clean up for pictures tonight.

Front end just looks like gurrrrr, out of the way, or Ill run you over.

Rear end has the look like, Ill leave a rooster tail on the sand, dirt, & grass.

I love the side profile. There will be detachable rear pegs as the seats big enought to swish on a passenger as asked.

Doing a little work on some of MotoLady's Ducati parts. The last while Ive gotten back to street bikes a bit & Ducati's seem to keep creeping up on my brain. 3 of my friends have Monsters. My son wants a 1198 or something. They are beautiful bikes, they remind me of hot rods a bit. This tank will get fixed up a bit.....a lot & John at Draft helped to make her 748 front end go onto her 700 Monster. He had to do some machining with the stem & trees as everything is very different between the two.

Its nice to have friends to help out each other & exchange work with.

Well the "The Machine" (that would be my awesome van) decided it wanted me to work on it instead of bikes for once, so it lost drive, then overdrive, then second, but not before I was on the way home with a replacement trans in the back. I got home in first gear, so it get points there for not stranding me. It was good because the day before I had driven a long ways to Dillsburg Aeroplane Supply for tubing. Super glad it waited until I was near home to toss its cookies.

BSA 441 Board Tracker. The new Kid on the block.

The next bike will be a neat project. It will be a Board Track Racer styled bike, heavily influenced by that style of bike. A bicycle kind of vibe, minimal, but maybe with more of a little bit later type feel, & a bit more stout. Instead of a fragile look, a bit more like what I like, the roll over anything in the way look & function.

The owner has been very nice in giving me a bit of free rein with his beautiful BSA. Its was asked that it keep some of the BSA feel & branding to it, which it will in a neat way.

I think the Vtwin Cafe bike, & this BSA 441 will be 2 really neat bikes to have done in a row, they are a bit more where Im headed I think.

One of my favorite parts of builds is making little parts from old things. I like to go to the Antiques stores, Ill see something that looks like it could have another use, or at least has a part if dissected that can be made into a piece for something else.
Here is what they call a "frog" for flower arrangements, one stem goes in each hole, these also come in grate style (the old ones). This one I found has a Mother of Pearl looking rainbow color to the glass. It will go into a steel tube housing that will be frenched into the tail, sticking out just a bit. it will rid red LED's in it. Should be pretty cool.

This is the first time Ive built a water cooled bike. The thought of the radiator being front & center did not sit well with the owner, or myself. I found a good sized unit that would squeeze in where I wanted it, but I did have to unsolder & resolder the inlet & outlet tubes in different positions. After a little manipulating I had it in place between the 2 rear tubes & made up some mounts.

Here it is in place before fan. From the side, it is perfect.

Now that I have the jig, Im back on the cafe and could move on to the swingarm. The rectangular Ninja one did not suit this bike, it wanted a tubular one. I made it from 1 5/8" tube, the front pivot tubes are 1 1/2", sleeved with 1 1/4", & then oil lite bushings used on inner frame mounts & the swingarm sleeves.
I still need to gusset the mounts on frame. Next up is new front motor mounts.

The bike Im doing now, the Cafe Vtwin, & the next one a board tracker from scratch has dictated I finally break down & make a jig. In the past Ive always had enough of the stock frame to work off of that I could level, measure, & plum bob, but these 2 are not so.. A Doctor friend was tossing out a huge therapy machine that had a ton of nice tubing & some neato pivoting things. I knew right away what is would be.

The neck stem can tilt at a couple points & lock, as well as adjust up & down. The pivot points are 1" pins on bronze bushing. The rear axle plate piece can travel up & down & forward & rear ward. Im still debating the final axle plate piece to be added.

I wanted to center open, so I can put metal end to end to brace & clamp the lower frame rails to & still have an engine in the frame while its on the jig since they hang down in the middle.

Itll get paint at some point.

I am really lucky to have my kids. Somehow theyre about grown up & still like me. And more so lately are having to help me...............ow how that tables have turned :-)
My oldest so will be an artist someday, my daughter a Pastry chef, & the young son a behind the scenes music industry leader, or rock star.

Wanted to make Brass emblems & tags for this bike, so I decided today was the day to try various methods to see what I could do simply.
For this, we are once again in the kitchen. Need a plastic bowl, some PCB etching solution, a piece of brass.....and some other stuff,........

Used a sharpie for the test piece

Radio shack solution, yes they still actually still sell useful stuff.

It soaks the brass in the stuff.

Checking progress

Took it out of solution, cut to shape. painted it black & sanded the parts, the sand paper will remove the paint from the high areas where the sharpie.

The idea was a emblem for the muffler.

Annnnd anything that remotely looks like a gun to my Daughter, she has to shoot my son with.

We want the bike to have a bit of a mellow idle, but have some bark when on the gas. I found this gem, cut it down a bit, modified it, and packed it a bit lighter with looser fiberglass packing, mig wire to hold in together & waalaa. This should do the job nice, in Aluminum.

Today is a day to remember those lost, & pray for those in harms way. Normally thought about is soldiers that do as they are told, & go where they are sent in the name of protecting our country & citizens. I have nothing but admiration for these men, the things they must endure & go thru, & some returning changed people, or damaged. I do sometimes wish the higher up in charge would someday realize the toll there decisions make on our young troops & civilians.
Please remember todays not really a day to Party like a drunk fool, its a day to remember people & what they do.

On todayI also remember those that fearlessly protected our old shop.

It was a few miles past a doctor I had to see today, so I went to Brunswick, Md to see it. Which is also the same exit as Burketsville, home of the Blair Witch hunt....owwww, spooky.

Yesterday was Rock the Farm where Frederick Rock school played After Jah Works, & before Everclear. They had the crowd going insane, the older kids are no joke, I mean they killed it.

Then Today is Classic Bike Day, the first year at a New venue. Should be great. Ill have a vendors spot. Look for the SAINT sign, or a Scooby Doo looking Van, youll find me.

The kids are alright, they are a force that is vibrant an real. Music is a great thing to be involved in.

The body is one now. I made the tank slope all the way down to seat, looks a lot better, & also gives me that much more room underneath to store electrical. There will be the one continuous body lines down the side of tank, seat & tail. Whole body lifts off & on easy, nice.

Time for the Body work a bit before I can finish frame. This one is starting with the tank style I like so much, but will look a little different in a day or so. The tank will go thru a few changes, including an aircraft type cap rrangement. I have folded down the rear pinch weld flush, the reason will be shown later.

The Body will be one piece, front to rear in steel & have quick release fuel lines, & two securing points that will allow body to be lifted off with no tools very easily to access electrical, Battery, Coolant etc with zero hassle.

This bike is going to be a little more high end then my normal, thus the sexy Rear set controls. Very Pleased with them. They will be available in the Saint store shortly.

Got the new front wheel (no on bike here), the clip-ons, & new fork tubes are coming.

The wheels will transform a bit as well :-)

This bike will be interesting. Heres the 2002 Shadow Motor in the home it should be in.

Cut cut, reuse the cradle for motor, which is better. On the shadow it has a water pump down on bottom left, so that frame tube is a bit higher then other side to access pump & hose..

Slug joints as needed.

Insert top half of CB frame. Narrowed the top, made a new rear tube that stouter 1.25 tube & follws the motor line.

I love the old Benelli Tanks. New old stock. Huge tunnel for hiding stuff in.

Now I need to figure out a swing arm, I gathered 4 various types to play with.
